Founded in 1090, St. Bartholomew’s Church has served the Burwash community for nearly 1000 years. Over the years many people have contributed to the life and work of St. Bartholomew’s, not least in the maintenance and repair of this Grade 2* listed building. The Friends are here to help make sure that this continues and St. Bartholomew’s continues to flourish. For the first time in nearly 100 years, we are about to embark on major essential repairs to the roofs of the North and South aisles. This will entail replacing all the tiles and underlying felt as well as associated repair work.

To pay for this extensive work we will use our own reserves and will be helped by the Curteis Fund and the PCC General Fund. This will substantially deplete reserves, and we need to raise £50,000 to ensure that the work is successfully completed and give us resources to meet future maintenance needs as they arise.

St. Bartholomew’s is a central part of the village cherished by everyone. We invite you to help with this work by buying tiles for £5 each. We will keep a record of your vital support.

Thank you very much for your help. If you have questions please telephone Chris Woodburn on 883196 (e-mail woodburnjes@btinternet.com) or Richard Harden on 882556 (e-mail rh@richardharden.co.uk)
